Just 2% of S&P 500 components are in positive territory as trade fears spread
The S&P 500 fell sharply on Friday, with the losses so broad that just a fraction of the benchmark’s components traded in positive territory. According to FactSet, just 12 components of the S&P 500 were in the green, which roughly amounts to 2%. Only one stock in the index, NetApp Inc. , gained more than 1%. Overall, the S&P sank 2.2% on the day, nearing a closely watched technical level that points to long-term momentum trends. All 11 S&P 500 sectors were in negative territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2.5% and the Nasdaq Composite Index lost 2.2%. Among the biggest decliners were large-capitalization industrial names, which have been heavily pressured due to growing concerns over the prospect of a trade war between China and the U.S.
