Chipmakers get after-hours boost following Texas Instruments earnings beat

Shares of several chipmakers ticked higher in the extended session Tuesday following better-than-expected earnings from Texas Instruments Inc. . Texas Instruments shares rallied nearly 5% after hours Tuesday as quarterly results topped Wall Street estimates. After hours Tuesday, shares of Analog Devices Inc. rose 1.5%, Intel Corp. advanced 1.2%, Microchip Technology Inc. rose 1.2%, Broadcom Inc. advanced 1.2%, Xilinx Inc. rose 0.9%, Micron Technology Inc. advanced 0.6%, Applied Materials Inc. shares rose 0.5%, and Nvidia Corp. advanced 0.5%. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Qualcomm Inc., both of which report earnings this week, saw shares flat after hours. Intel also reports earnings after the bell Thursday.
