The Dow Jones Industrial Average was set to open firmly higher on Monday, with shares of McDonald’s Corp. expected to help lift the blue-chip average in early trade. McDonald’s Corp reported profit and sales that were better than analysts’ estimates, which helped the fast-food giant to rally sharply in premarket trading. If the gain for the company holds in the regular session, it will contribute a roughly 50-point lift to the Dow . Shares of McDonald’s were most recently up 4.5%, or $7.07, which translates to about a 49-point gain. A dollar move in any one of the price-weighted blue-chip average’s 30 components equates to a 6.89-point swing. Dow futures were up about 117 points, or 0.5%, at 24,400, those for the S&P 500 were up 0.3% at 2,678, while futures for the Nasdaq-100 were showing a gain of 0.4% at 6,694. That puts the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index on pace to close out April on a high note.
