LeBron James leads Cavaliers past Celtics, and back to NBA Finals

LeBron James flexed his muscles, and the Cleveland Cavaliers will return to the NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive year after beating the Boston Celtics, 87-79, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday night. In an often ugly, defense-dominated game, the Celtics shot just 18% from the 3-point line (7-for-39), and lost at home for the first time this postseason. James dominated Sunday’s game, ending up with 35 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists, and providing a dose of swagger that motivated his teammates to victory. It will be James’ eighth straight Finals appearance; he’s won three titles in that stretch. This year’s trip to the Finals might be James’ most impressive achievement, as he’s surrounded by arguably his weakest supporting cast in that stretch. The NBA Finals will start Thursday, with the Cavs meeting either the Golden State Warriors or the Houston Rockets, who will face off in a Game 7 of their own on Monday night.
