DTE Energy Co. said Friday it has submitted a plan to invest more than $1.7 billion through 2022 to double its renewable energy capacity in Michigan to 2,000 megawatts. The company proposes about 1,000 additional megawatts of carbon-free electricity from new wind and solar projects. That would be enough megawatts to power over 800,000 homes, the company said. DTE’s proposal includes bringing the Pine River and Polaris wind parks on line, and building two additional wind parks in 2021 and 2022. The stock has shed 4.6% year to date through Thursday, while the SPDR Energy Select Sector ETF has lost 6.7% and the S&P 500 has slipped 1.2%.
