Australia’s government is refusing to ban the export of farm animals during summer months, prompting anger from animal welfare groups.

Ministers had ordered a review of the industry after it was revealed thousands of sheep died on a voyage from Australia to the Middle East.

The government has agreed to improve standards on board ships.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
